Leandro Madrazo

Project coordinator

Leandro Madrazo. Architect, M. Arch., PhD, professor at the School of Architecture La Salle, Ramon Llull University, Barcelona, Spain. Head of the ARC Engineering and Architecture research group since its creation in 1999 and coordinator of the La Salle Integrated Architectural Research group. He graduated in architecture from the Polytechnic University of Catalonia in 1984, and studied later as Fulbright scholar in the Master of Architecture programmes of Harvard University and at the University of California Los Angeles, in which he obtained the Master’s degree in 1988. From 1990 to 1999 he carried out his teaching and research work at the Department of Architecture and CAAD at ETH Zurich, where he received his PhD in 1995. He has coordinated the European projects SEMANCO “Semantic tools for carbon reduction in urban planning”, OIKONET “A global multidisciplinary network on housing research and learning” and OIKODOMOS “A virtual campus to promote the study of dwelling in contemporary Europe”, as well as the nationally funded projects PROHABIT “Multidisciplinary analysis of the lived environment to promote the implementation of the right to the city”, RÉPENER “Control and improvement of energy efficiency in the building through the use of repositories” and BARCODE HOUSING SYSTEM “An integrated computer-aided system for the design and construction of housing with industrialized methods”. He is the editor of the book “Global dwelling: Intertwining Research, Community participation and Pedagogy”.
